Sensor Options

The BioStation is available with three different finger reader sensors. Each sensor type has its own advantages and disadvantages. Capacitive is more suitable for use with dirty / oily fingers - however it is more sensitive to damage. Optical is more robust however dirty / oily fingers do not read as well. Swipe (where the employee strokes their finger down the sensor pad) is a compromise between the other two.
