Paxton and HID Long Range Proximity Readers

The Long range reader has been designed specifically for car park access points. However its long read range of up to 5 metres, means it is also ideal for any instance where a greater than normal reading distance is required. Using a hands free token it can be read from within a vehicle. The built in hands free interface removes the need to lay ground loops. The Long range reader will accommodate vehicles of different sizes. Only one reader needs to be installed at each access point. The Long range reader also works as a close proximity reader so that users without hands free tokens can use it.

Any new or existing P series reader, and KP keypads, can be converted to hands free by fitting a hands free interface. The interface requires no external power source and is wired in series between the reader and the control unit. The interface should be mounted as close to the reader as is possible up to a maximum of 15m.

Once the interface has been fitted, the hands free tokens will have a read range of between 0.85m and 2.5m. The reader will continue to read regular tokens as usual. If the long read range causes any problems, such as people unlocking the door as they walk past, an entry confirmation button can be fitted. The entry button can be any standard push to make device and prevents the door from opening until it has been pressed.
