Dairy Manufacture & Distribution – Arla Foods Ltd

Arla LogoArla Foods are a dairy co-operative, owned by farmers, making and distributing a range of well known dairy products including Anchor butter, Cravendale milk, cheeses and yogurts.  Arla originally purchased the Focus Enterprise time and attendance system with BioStation fingerprint terminals for use across seven sites across the UK in 2012.

In 2016 Arla decided that they could improve the integration and streamlining of the way they process payroll for their agency drivers.  With multiple agencies providing drivers across multiple sites Arla needed to simplify the process of accurately producing payroll for these drivers.  Already using Tachomaster digi cards for their drivers, Arla approached Egress Systems to see if we could integrate the Tachomaster web service into the Focus time and attendance system.  An interface was developed and ‘clockings’ are now downloaded automatically following a driver’s digi card download.  This populates the timesheet with clocking information based upon the actual driving shift undertaken rather than basing it upon a fingerprint clocking captured at the depot.

Dominic Brosnan from Arla has lead the Tachomaster project following its implementation:

“Because the drivers already have to use the digi card when driving it takes away the need to have both the digi card and the egress finger scanner. Drivers only need to clock in on one system.

“The Focus system helps the process in that it combines all the drivers under their working site and the agency that they work for. At the end of the week it gives us the costings for each agency at sites.  The exceptions list is easy to clear before we run the payroll and to enter a new driver is a simple process.

“The Tachomaster /Egress process works and we get excellent back up from both Egress and Tachomaster when we encounter any problems.”
